The Greater Romeo Washington Chamber of Commerce held its 24th Annual Golf Invitational on Tuesday June 15th, 2010 at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
Early morning showers did''nt deter more than 107 golfers from registering for the 10:30 shotgun start. Before golfers hit the course threatening skies gave way to sunny skies.
The chambers golf committee chaired by Donna Aul of Northend Tax and Accounting Services and Donna Bombard of Heads Up Salon added a few changes to this years outing. The putting contest had large bills scattered around the green. Tony Saroli of Heidebreicht was the only winner of the day at the putting contest he walked away with a $100 dollar bill. The golf gift bags were donated by AnyTime Fitness and filled with members promotional goodies. The Chamber gave each golfer a 1GB USB Flash Drive with the chamber''s logo on it.
A tie breaker on the fourth hole favored InStar Services Group team, who generously split their winnings with the golfers from The Pantry Resturant team who they initially shared an 11 under score. The highest team score went to the all ladies team from AnyTime Fitness. Washington Fire Chief Dave Poterek took the award for the longest drive while Thom Stephens of the Brabb House Bed and Breakfast won for closest to the pin.
